What is Cancer?
Cancer is the name given to a collection or group of diseases in which abnormal cells in the body grow and reproduce uncontrollably, with capacity to attack adjoining tissues and spread to other areas of the body thereby leading to a number of cancer types.

Cancer is a major public health challenge; and one of the key factors in morbidity and mortality globally, with nearly 14 Million new cases in 2012, which is anticipated to increase by roughly 70% over the next 20 years, (WHO report, February 2017). Cancer is the second prevalent cause of death in developed nations and among the 3 principal causes of death in developing countries of the world (Morunke et al., 2017)
Cancer causes about 72,000 deaths in Nigeria yearly, with roughly 102,000 new cases every year (Nigeria National Control Plan 2018-2022)
